Overview
The Specialty Concepts ASC-12/8 ASC™ 8 Amp, 12V Charge Controller is a rugged, field-proven photovoltaic (PV) charge regulator engineered for small to mid-sized solar systems. Design & Construction
The ASC controller is completely encapsulated in epoxy resin, providing full protection from dust, moisture, and mechanical shock. Its low component count and 100% solid-state design ensure long-term performance in harsh outdoor environments. Optional features such as LVD and temperature compensation make it adaptable for advanced system management.
Operation
The ASC’s pulse-width modulation (PWM) control allows continuous battery charging when depleted, transitioning to short charging pulses as the battery approaches full capacity. This cycle maintains battery health and minimizes gassing. When equipped with Option-E, the unit automatically disconnects loads to prevent deep discharge and can trigger alarms or generator starts.
