Let's make something clear before we get in to the gritty details: we are not a solar PV installer. What we do as a company is provide solar installers with the equipment they need to install a solar power system on or adjacent to your home. With that said, we're happy to provide you with the basics of "going solar" and provide you with resources that will give you a good overview of the process.
If you are inexperienced in any aspect of tackling a project like this, it should be your intention is to hire a qualified solar installation contractor to perform your installation. That contractor should be able to provide you with all the pre-purchase information you need in making the decision to "go solar". The contractor will also be well-versed in the local regulations and codes that must be met, especially for grid-tied solar power systems where strict technical, mechanical, and safety codes and regulations must be applied. Your solar contractor will also be able to provide all of the equipment needed to complete your installation. Professional solar contractors possess the ability to see your project through from the research and feasibility phase and all the way to completion and producing your own power from the sun.

We also sell complete solar power systems, most often off-grid systems, to homeowners who intend to install their systems themselves with the help of their favorite electrician*. We're available to assist with any questions you may have or with your system design and sizing. Once it is known what size your system needs to be, we can provide all the components necessary to have your producing your own off-grid electric generation system.
* NOTE: We strongly advise against attempting to install any solar power system without the supervision of a qualified and licensed electrical professional. Your regional electric power utility company and your local municipal or county government will certainly have a regulatory structure that will apply to your solar project, including codes and compliance rules that can be met only with the involvement of a solar or electrical professional. Going Solar At Home: An Overview
The most important factor in generating your own electricity using energy from the sun is usually cost. How much is it going to cost to go solar? The cost of going solar will be determined by four things:
- The percentage of your current utility power you want to replace with your solar power system.
- The number of solar panels needed to meet that goal.
- Permitting and any siting costs.
- Applying any rebates and inctentives provided by your state and/or local governments or by your electric utility. Most residential systems qualify for a 30% renewables tax credit provided by the U.S. government for new solar (and other renewable) energy installations.
